Indooroopilly Pub - 2nd Jan 2007 Lunch
- 25th Jan 2007 Dinner
I have to say that the first time we went to Indro pub, my impressions where good, hence going there again, however the second time was marred by the giant leap in cost of food...
Overall:Food: Tasty, servings are decent at lunch, but a little small at dinner(esp at dinner prices)
Service:Service was good, nothing to write home about, but nothing to get you really annoyed at either. At lunch some of the meals actually have a 10min from order to table guarentee, or else its free which wasn't quite adhered to.)
Price: Like I said before, Lunch was very reasonable, but at dinner the price was went up, while the lighting and serving size went down.
Parking: There is some road side, however parking at the shopping centre and walking down would be the easiest.
Recommended: yes, but only at lunch time...

Lefka's Taverna: Thurs 19th May Dinner
Nice little greek place with quite alot of the authentic feel to it.
Up on hardgrave road in west end its pretty cheap and service is very friendly.
The girls did dinner here and the grilled halumi and baby octopus was great!
Overall:
Food: greek... most stuff was quite tasty and the salads are great.
Service:Apart from them loosing our booking, they were very friendly and were quite quick with everything. We even got to move in side after a while
Price: Very decent prices, $5 entrees and $10 for mains... most were cheaper however.
Parking: Hardgrave road is a bit hard to park on... it always has been... best bet is to arrive a little early to find a park or be ready to walk.
Recommended: yes, its a beautiful little greek place.
Jackpot Noodles- Fri 13th May Dinner
We did this place because there was disagreements as to what to eat, it was pretty funky and worked out really quite good.
Overall:
Food: Chinese and South East Asian meals... tasty enough.
Service: Very asian, rushed but it gets it done.. they were friendly however.
Price: Cheap as chips. Thats what these guys are known for. $5.50 set meals up to about $12 is their most expensive.
Parking: you may have to look around a bit... there is road side and also woolies car park.
Recommended: yes, great for a cheap lunch or dinner.

Normanby Hotel - 8th May Dinner
Hanah and Di had their 21st Birthday bash at this place. For that it was great. They do steaks as well so we decided to go back for Marks birthday dinner.
IT was pretty noisy, being a pub. But still very classy.
Overall:
Food: We had Steaks with some sides of seafood. Wasn't too bad though not the best Calamari or Steak i've ever had.
Service: Friendly and reasonably quick. Our booking was for 6.30, and we were home by 8.30 feeling pretty full.
Price: Not the cheapest. Steaks where between $20-$26. Othere stuff was about that range also. Parking: It does have a carpark, but that fills pretty quick. After that its good luck to you. Another word of caution. Come in to it from Petrie Terrace going to Kelving Grove road... or you will be driving around for ages trying to get back to it.
Recommended: Its a nice pub, but for steak you can do a good job at the Pineapple or the Norman for same price but better parking.
Meccah Bar Lunch 7th May
We visited here as it was a going away lunch.
Interesting feel to it.. One major complaint and it has nothing to do with the food. The toilets need to get some better lighting.
Other wise not too bad.
Overall:
Food: Very Interesting.. mostly Turkish/Middle eastern flavour. We recommend the Pizzas
Service: Pretty fast service. But its one of those yuppy places that the Waitresses are all funkified peoples.
Price: Not really the cheapest place, but also not way too expensive. We think that for best value the pizza's did it($16- $18).
Parking: a fair big around in the Empourium Shopping Area.
Recommended: Why not. Its pretty interesting.

The Shearers Arms - 25th April Dinner
This pub is a secret find of ours. We found it in 2003, on Di's birthday out in the middle of nowhere( okay Ormeau) when we were trying to find Yatala pies. We didn't find Yatala, and it was getting late so we decided for this pub. We were a bit scared by the locals to start with but when we went round the side to where the restaurant is, we loved what we saw. Big Sandwich boards that said: 200 gram steak, chips, veggies and a extra side of ( bbq ribs/ calamari/ prawn cutlets/duck shanks) for only $16.90 we knew we hit the jack pot. We decided to stop there, this weekend after a long drive to have a great meal.
Overall:
Food: We've only had the steak combo meals, but they great.
Service: Service is fast and very friendly. Its a order at the counter, and then table service setup. It works well.
Price: The steaks are decent($16-18), and so are most of the other meals($13-20, $37 for lobsters) .
Parking: heaps around.
Recommended: yes, its a great value and a nice feel. Exit 45 on the pacific Highway.

Landmark Chinese Restaurant- 17th April Lunch
Now we love YUMCHA. WE've done it a few times. and the best place to go for it is Sunnybank
For and explanation of it go to this website here. The things they don't explain is that the food is brought around to you on little trolleys, and you pick what you like, and secondly its DAMN BUSY!
You can also order Alcarte, however when its busy it might take a while to come out.
Overall:
Food: Not bad, cause you can choose from soo much.
Service: apart from the ladies with the food, don't expect much service from the waiters... its VERY BUSY
Price: The more the merrier, and it usually ends up about $15 ahead when you share.
Parking: Shopping centre has heaps... but it too gets busy.
Recommended: Yes, Yumcha is an experience. Its prob best with an asian to lead you through the first time.
Scherhazade- 6 April Dinner
We've eaten here once before, MP has eaten it many times. I liked it then, and I like it now. They do their main indy bindy dishes well. This time we went with the family, and they were great as they helped with identifying gluten free meals.... everything bar one dessert!
Overall:
Food: Not bad at all... great butter chicken
Service: Not too bad. Very friendly, and helpful.
Price: I don't think its the cheapest, we had the all you can eat buffet for $19.95
Parking: roadside or block buster video
Recommended: why not if your on that side of town!
Sun Fay Chinese Restaurant- March ?? Dinner
We've been to this one a few times, its not great, but it makes does when you want a feed.
We went on a saturday night, and it was pretty busy when we went, so we didn't get great service. Nothing special, just if you want a meal.
Overall:
Food: Yeah, not bad. got your standard chinese dishes.
Service: Not bad, not great though.
Price: We didn't pay, but i expect it can't be too expensive.
Parking: car park and Road side.
Recommended: if you want chinese, and you don't want to go into the city for it, why not.

Patcharin Thai- 26th Feb Dinner
I have been waiting to eat here again to write about it.
I love this place. Not the cheapest place to eat, but sooooo yummy and soooo filling.
up the end of west end, its nice and quiet. there is a bottleshop 4 shops down and its byo so thats pretty good.
From what i remember they don't charge corkage or cakage!
Overall:
Food: Really Really Really Really Yummy. Servings were that big, but very filling
Service: Great. The waiters and waitress are very friendly, but its the owners that remember you and are just sooo friendly.
Price: we did full and 2 doggy bags for $20 a head.
Parking: roadside, but it gets hard at that time of night as there are other restaurant around
Recommended: yum yum thai in my tum, you really should go if thai is your thing.

Nymboida Coaching Station - 18th Feb
Reportedly owned by one Mr Russell Crowe, managed by a family friend, this beautiful little restaurant/bar/hotel/function centre is nestled in the beautiful hills that curve around the Nymboida River in Northern New South Wales.
IT has a big history as the coaching station for all the people, and watering hole for horse and cattle, through the ages, it has now been renovated to be watering hole of this day and age. It holds many relics from history, and a few really impressive snake skins.
We went down that way to visit Marks old stomping ground, his nan and aunts.
Overall:
Food: Really good, huge serving, and they can do a decent sauce
Service: Very mixed. Wait staff were brilliant. soo helpful and friendly, however the manager was very rude. "30 years i've been in this business" doesn't mean she's done it well.
Price: very decent prices for the servings, $20 was the most expensive meal and that was rib fillet steak with a great helping of sides
Parking: Being out in the country, this is something they really don't lack for. the drive down there from brisvegas is more the issue.
Recommended: Its well worth a look in, if your in that part of the world.
Renu Thai- a few occasions
Generally we go there when we want a really tasty meal, close to home thats cheap.
been there a few times now... they have a great little selection from their bay maree.
Service is pretty good, as you just walk up and tell them what you want. You can order specially made noodle dishes and stirfries, however we haven't before. water and cutlery is self serve
Overall:
Food: Nice and decent servings.
Service: Not bad at all. people are very friendly.
Price: quite decent $8 for rice and 3 dishes from their bay-maree, noodles about $10 a pop
Parking:Woolies toowong or toowong village
Recommended to others: Yes, is a good little student eat out.
Punjabi Palace -West end 28th December Dinner
Now we have eaten here on quite a few occasions, but not since we have started this whole website. So now we are finally doing this restaurant.
Our having been many a time, with our resited Indian experts, is certification the the worth of this restaurant.
Although i have not noticed myself, but have been told by the gang prior to my joining, the prices have risen whilst the servings have shrunk..
Overall:
Food: YUMYUM INDIAN IN MY TUM!
Service: they have always been very busy when we are there, and we are always the noisey table so service for us is usually not great
Price: about $16 a dish plus rice...
Parking: coles parking near by, and on the road side.
Recommended to others: Yes, yes if you like indian.
A Salt and battery - 18th December
Was the work party eating place. near uni, which meant it was a short walk to and back.
does a nice set of fish and chip style foods. Not my favourite place to eat, but then fried fish was never my thing
Overall:
Food: decent servings. tastes like fish and chips
Service: food arrived okay, we were a large group.
Price: Not the cheapest meals, as its trying to be slightly classy.
Parking:They have a car park, behind and in front
Recommended to others: Why not if you like fish and chips.
Amore on High- Sept 04 Bob's bday
This was a very high class restaurant, or it is priced to be, but the service just isn't quite there for the price. mood lighting made the menu a little hard to read. wasnt our pick, but we went cause it was bob's bday. dessert took a long time to come out. we were told that they were short chefed( jokes were made) however its was still way tooo long.
Overall:
Food: Nice enough.
Service: Staff were friendly enough, however service was very very very slow. 2 course meal took about 2 and half hours.
Price: Exxy. the cheapest meals where $16 and they were salads and pastas. breads and dips to the value of $9 were 4 stips of pita bread and 3 dipping saucers about 5cm across
Parking:Toowong village and woolies have parks
Recommended to others: Not for the price. You could go to a nice cafe and get the same for cheaper
